Frances “Fran” J Larson, 89, of Sheffield, passed away on March 26, 2024 at her home in the care of her family.
Fran was born on May 15, 1934 in Kewanee to Eugene and Rachel (Timmerman) Coggins. She married LeRoy P. Larson on June 25, 1960 in the St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2008. Fran graduated from Manlius High School and Western IL University where she obtained a degree in education. She taught in both the Rochelle and Mendota School Districts for 27 years. Fran had a lifelong love of reading and traveling.
She is survived by one son, J.P. (Tina) Larson of Overland Park, Kansas and two daughters, Jean Larson of Peru and Jodie (Doug) Dewey of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Janelle (James) Dent, Eric Larson, Kyle (Katie) Larson and Bridget (Joe) Bevilacqua, Logan Dewey and Shannon Dewey; three great-grandchildren, Landon Dent, Brooklyn Dent and Holly Bevilacqua.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Donna Sullivan.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. A private funeral mass will be held at a later date. Burial of cremated remains will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Sheffield.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Sheffield Illinois Library and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
