Virginia Pearl Yates, 94, of Wyanet, Illinois and formerly of Cape Coral, Florida passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Liberty Village in Princeton surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born on July 27, 1929 in Eldorado, Illinois the daughter of Thomas “Tom” and Lillian (Johnson) Ingram. She graduated from Eldorado High School class of 1947. Virginia married Guy Yates on June 11, 1949 in Henderson, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2021. They shared 72 years together.
She is survived by two sons, Gaylord (Patricia) of Ft. Myers, FL, Bruce (Shelley) of Wyanet; two daughters, Trudy (Roger) Miller of Princeton and Judy (Carlyn) Wood of Wyanet; ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and seven siblings.
Virginia worked for many years at Harper Wyman in Princeton prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the First Cape Church in Cape Coral Florida before returning back to Illinois and recently joined Bethel Baptist Church in Princeton, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Fuller Metz Cremation and Funeral Services in Cape Coral, FL. Burial will immediately follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service at the funeral home.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church in Princeton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Bethel Baptist Church in Princeton, Illinois or First Cape Church in Cape Coral, Florida.
