Dorothy Ann Coble, 80

October 27, 1943 to January 5, 2024

10-27-1943 - 1-5-2024

On Friday, Jan. 5th, 2024, Dorothy Ann Coble was welcomed into God's arms for eternal rest. Dorothy, who had been affectionally known to some as "Dot", was born to the late Bert and Lilly Henderson in Princeton, IL on Oct. 27th, 1943.

As a young girl, Dorothy studied in a one room schoolhouse known as the Bryant School. She later attended and graduated from Tiskilwa High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Henry "Hank" Coble on May 12, 1962. They resided in Peru and Princeton prior to making their forever home in Depue. There, they welcomed and raised three daughters: Melissa, Holly, and Cherie.

Dorothy worked at Hobbs for numerous years and later for Mid-American Growers in Granville. She worked from 1984 until her retirement in 2009. She loved gardening, and could tell you the Latin, proper names of almost all flowers. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide range of works from Stephen King to Gone with the Wind. Several of Dorothy's favorite pastimes were watching the wildlife, taking drives with Hank admiring the countryside, and work in her many flowerbeds. She had a wicked sense of humor, and anyone who knew her, knew how she loved her black coffee. A pot was always ready or had better be, and the hotter, the better!

Dorothy above all loved her family, immediate and extended alike. She is survived by her two daughters; Melissa (Brian) Ishee of Bristol, WI and Cherie (Sean) Sandberg of McNabb, IL, three grandchildren; Dylan, Broedy, and Lilliana, two great-grandchildren; Lillyahna and Rayna, and her brother, Robert Henderson of FL. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend Henry, beloved daughter Holly, parents Bert and Lilly Henderson, and sister Ruth Olsen.

Dorothy was a very private person and per her wishes, she requested no services. The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at Liberty Village who helped keep Dorothy comfortable, Pastor Karen Karczewski for her unwavering faith and support, the congregation of the First Congregational Church of Depue for all their prayers, cards, and newsletters that she so looked forward to reading, Beth at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home for her kindness and guidance, her previous caretakers Debbie and Missy, and lastly her loving niece, Donna. Finally, above all, to Kenny and Sharon Bence for a lifetime of love and friendship unlike no other.

Memorials can be made in Dorothy's name to the First Congregational Church of Depue at 116 E 3rd St. Depue, IL 61322.
