Delmar F. Friel, 81, of Princeton, Illinois passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Liberty Village Nursing Home, Princeton.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will take place at a later date.

He was born November 29, 1939 in Marion Township, Illinois the son of Donald and Dorothy (Oester) Friel, Sr.

He is survived by 7 sisters: Elizabeth Potts of Dixon, IL, Margarite Kuchenbecker of Bennett, KY, Rose Woodyatt of Fulton, IL, Karen O'Neill of Tiskilwa, IL, Regina Friel of Dixon, IL, Barbara (Jay) Perry of Tiskilwa, IL, and Carolyn (Dave) Montavon of Dixon, IL; 5 brothers: Donald (Sandra) Friel, Jr. of Tiskilwa, IL, Gerald Friel of Tiskilwa, IL, Robert (Susan) Friel of Tiskilwa, IL, David Friel of Tiskilwa, IL, and Stephen (Deb Kirly) Friel of Princeton, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.   

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Kathleen Moats, and three brothers: Bernard, John, and Richard Friel.

He graduated from Tiskilwa High School and served in the United States Army.

 Delmar drove a truck for Strunk Brother's, Tiskilwa for a while and retired from the Local 197 electricians.

Delmar enjoyed helping Donald and Sandra on the farm and loved to fish and play cards.

"Delmar was such a good friend of mine. We played cards a lot and I beat him, so he quit playing with me! He will be missed by all of his friends. He helped my husband, Bob, at our farmette. My heart goes out to his family."

"My husband Victor Lins and I were very good friends of Delmars. Victor and Delmar were good buddies and did a lot together. Victor passed 9 years ago. But I still think Of Delmar often. I used to make him Rhubarb pie. He will be missed. Sending prayers to your family in this time of loss."
