William A Kelm

Born June 8, 1924, in Wyanet to William A. and Mary (DeBrock) Kelm, he married Elaine M. Gutschlag Jan. 26, 1952, in Kewanee. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Colleen) Kelm of LaMoille and David (Elizabeth) Kelm of Wyanet; one daughter, Karla (Tim) Miller of Sheffield; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Klingenberg.
He was a 1941 graduate of Manlius High School. He was a farmer in the Manlius area from 1952 to 1991 and after retiring he moved to Sheffield. He served as a Lt. Jr. Grade in the Navy Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 and in the Naval Reserves until 1952.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheffield and H.F. Hortz American Legion Post 415 in Sheffield. He was a Little League coach and a Cub Scout leader. He served on the Manlius School Board for 12 years, was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of the Manlius Sportsmen Club and Flemish American Club in Kewanee.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was an avid high school football fan and a Green Bay Packer fan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sheffield, with the Father J.M. Logan officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Sheffield, with military rites conducted by H.F. Hortz American Legion Post 415, Sheffield.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Manlius, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Gateway Services in Princeton and Walnut Manor in Walnut.
