Homer D Jontz
May 27, 1918 to Feb 20, 2013

Homer D. Jontz, 94, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, where he had been a patient for a short time.

Born May 27, 1918, in Buda to Ira H. and Florence P. (Anderson) Jontz, he married Ruth M. Pihl June 1, 1941, in Bureau County. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Phyllis (Don) Moore of Belleville; two grandsons, Michael Moore of Swansea and Scott (Renata) Moore of Swansea; two great-grandsons, Colin and Mason Moore of Swansea; and one sister-in-law, Esther V. Jontz of Davenport, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leon I. Jontz.

He was a 1936 graduate of Buda High School and retired from farming in 1191. When he was young, he accepted the lord as his savior and served faithfully for many years in his church. At the time of death, he was a member of First Baptist Church of LaSalle.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with Pastor Wesley Waddle officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.

Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to two missionaries of the church — Matthews of Japan and Stringers of Arizona Indian Missions.

Pallbearers will be Michael Moore, Scott Moore, Matt Foor, Matt Brooks, Dean Yelm and Mel Kruse.
