William Francis Johnston,68, of Houston Texas died December 29, 2009 after a long illness.

Bill was born March 2, 1941 in Bradford, Illinois to Clara Frances (Miller) Johnston and Joseph William Johnston. Both preceded him in death.

Bill graduated from Bradford High School and attended Western Illinois University before serving in the United States Army. After completing his military service, Bill enjoyed a successful business career with Debt Collections Incorporated and Integretec before retiring as a Director and Manager of Collections. While a native of Illinois, Bill was a resident of Houston and a proud Texan for more than 36 years.

Bill is survived by his wife and companion Patricia Johnston and his daughters Cindi Shaddix (James) of McDonough, Georgia and Kelly Johnston of Bend, Oregon, and his son Scott Johnston of Bend, Oregon. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters; Rick Johnston (Bobbie) of Rossville, TN, Mary Ellen Eble (Jim) of Bradford, IL, Patrick Johnston (Sandy) of Wilmington, DE, Beth Virden (Gary) of Speer, IL, Dave Johnston (Lynn) of Mapleton, IL, Peggy (Steve) Melton of Peoria, IL and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service was conducted on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 9 , 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, 217 East Main Street, Bradford, Illinois 61421 followed by internment at the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Bradford.

Visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or St. John the Baptist Church in Bradford, Illinois.
