Leland "Lee" Dyer, 86

January 10, 1931 to May 8, 2017

Leland L. “Lee” Dyer, 86, of Wyanet died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, peacefully at his home.

Born Jan. 12, 1931, in Kasbeer, the son of Moss and Mary (Hutcherson) Dyer, he married Mary (Grant) Dyer, who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1990. He married Elizabeth “Libby” (Walters) Dyer Aug. 13, 1994, in Dover. She survives.

Lee owned and operated Dyer Drugstore in Wyanet in the 50s and 60s and later owned and operated Lee’s Water Systems, starting in 1974.

He was a life member of the Wyanet VFW, a founding member of the Wyanet Rescue Unit and a member of the Princeton Bible Church. He was a corner judge for the Princeton stock car races for many years, which he really enjoyed. Lee’s favorite thing was spending time with his family.

Lee served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War.

Also surviving are five daughters, Brenda (Tom Linder) Siegman of San Benito, Texas, Lisa (Phil) Turner of Princeton, Mona Cook of Buda, Donna (Al) Lamour of Manteno and Rita (Lonnie) Byrd of Wyanet; two sons, Mike (Kim) Walters of Walnut and Dave (Denise) Walters of Dover; 16 grandchildren and their spouses; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin and Bill; two sisters, Mildred Sutherland and Neva Clemenson; and one daughter, Carol Dyer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Justin Bullington officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, with military rites conducted by Wyanet VFW Post 6634.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Wyanet Rescue Unit.
